I have finished the base and drive for the automata. The Exploratoriam has quite a high humidity so I have used birch ply in it’s construction as it less prone to shrinkage and expansion. I am using a 5rpm motor and have geared it down a little to give the automata a running cycle of 20 seconds.I arrived at the duration time of 20 seconds by making a stoyboard detailing each action and how long it would take.
Can you tell me where you get your drive belts from?
thank you.
I get my drive belts from RS Components, UK
Absolutely fantastic work Keith. Great blog.
Thanks for your generosity in sharing all the info on construction etc. etc.
A star indeed you are.
Tho tell me. Surely the mechanics of your pieces are not bullet proof. Especially the coin-operated ones which are getting a lot of use. Are there not glitches now and then and are you not running around the country doing repairs and maintenance , which I’m sure would be a drag, or does that just go with the territory?
