The Dinosaur Egg was commissioned by the Natural History Museum in 2002.It is a collection box which is activated when a pound coin is inserted.
As soon as the coin has fallen the egg opens, revealing a baby Pterodactyl. The little dinosaur slowly stands up, stretches it's wings and lets out a loud squawk. The creature then crouches back down and the egg closes.
It is made from wood and brass and the egg is made from papier mache which has been given 15 coats of gesso.
